Dr. Cherie La Rocque, Registered Psychologist

I completed my Master’s and PhD in Clinical Psychology at Queen’s University, where I focused on the mental health benefits of exercise, specifically yoga and aerobic exercise for major depression in women. In 2016, I relocated to Calgary for a predoctoral residency with Alberta Health Services. Throughout my training, I gained extensive experience in treating major depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and chronic insomnia.

For the past six years, I have been immersed in the exciting start-up world, working for a virtual sleep clinic. I trained and supported therapists across Canada in insomnia treatment before transitioning into a product development role in 2021. My current focus is on creating and optimizing mobile applications for sleep disorders. This has sparked another passion of mine – healthy sleep! Along with regular exercise, I believe good sleep is essential for overall well-being and vitality.

I am excited to offer part-time private practice, helping Albertans improve sleep, mood, and reduce anxiety and stress. My therapeutic approach is primarily cognitive behavioral, guiding individuals to modify unhelpful thoughts and behaviors for better well-being. Outside of work, I enjoy staying active, travelling, trying new recipes, and getting solid sleep.
